Association
Quarter Midgets of
America is a non-profit organization with over 3000 family memberships.
There are 13 regions in our Organization and 57 Quarter Midget clubs
across the Nation. QMA is a strong organization that specifies engine,
chassis, safety, track and driving regulations. Since its inception,
QMA has enjoyed one of the finest safety records of all organized sports
for children.
Boys and Girls ages 5 to 16 drive open wheel racecars scaled down to 1/4
the size of a full midget racecar. QMA is divided into 16 different
classes and divisions ranging as follows: Junior Novice, Senior Novice
for beginners then graduating to Junior Honda, Senior Honda, Heavy
Honda, Light GX160, Heavy GX160, Junior Super stock, Senior Super stock,
Heavy Super stock, Light Mod, Heavy Mod, Light B, Heavy B, Light A and
Heavy A.
Additionally 1/4 midget driver may graduate to 1/2 Midgets, which are
divided into a Junior class.
Quarter Midget Racing not only hosts many weekly races, but also local
Regional races, and for the more serious competitor, three Grand
National Events (two asphalt track races and one dirt track race.)
Purpose
The purpose of the
organization is to create and maintain a clean, safe sport, which may be
enjoyed by father, son, mother and daughter in a close relationship with
better sportsmanship.
To acquaint the younger generation with the handling of mechanical
devices, coordination, alertness and ability to handle motor driven
vehicles.
To impress the younger generation with the ideas of fairness, generosity
and a sense of responsibility, without envy of others.
Benefits
Few other sports
permit all members of the family to participate. The kids do the driving
while other family members serve as pit crews, chief mechanics, scorers,
timekeepers and operators of concession stands or novelty booths. All
persons assisting donate their services gratuitously.
